My wife and I dined here in early June, after a long day of exploring the area. Were warmly greeted. Food and wine were excellent and well priced for the quality served to us. We had the veal and the cod, dessert and wine. Unbelievable ! Service was excellent and attentive. Our waiter went out of his way to help us Aussies select our wine, which was a great choice. If you are ever in Martel, please dine here. You wont be disappointed. Steve & Simone.

We stayed here for two nights in July 2023 on a hiking trip to the area. When you arrive, their sign says (in French) “Good food. Good drinks. Good sleep.” and that is exactly what this wonderful little place offers. The menu offers fresh, …

If the medieval city of Martel is a crown topping this part of the Dordogne Valley, then Le Petit Moulin is the jewel in the crown. It's perfectly located in a quietish street in the main part of town, and offers lots of dining tables, a Wine Bar and shop, plus 5 delightful hotel rooms. We stayed 2 nights and ate 2 dinners at Le Petit Moulin and were enchanted by the staff, the menu and our room. Camille, Florian and the other waiters know the menu and make excellent wine pairing suggestions. The chef uses local, seasonal ingredients and creates stunning flavour profiles. The menu is relatively small, which is a sure sign of freshness and home-cooked food. There is a starter and a main dish of the day to round out the offerings. The restaurant is open 7 days a week for both lunch and dinner; reservations are highly recommended due to its popularity. Owner Adrien has recently refurbished 5 bedrooms in this corner building, and ours was exceptional. The modern design combined with some older features create a lovely blend and ensure your comfort. The bathroom is gorgeous with two sinks, toilet, and walk-in shower. The buffet breakfast features hand-crafted croissants and pains au chocolat such as I have never seen during over 40 years living in France. Martel itself is a real gem; lively old buildings and everyday shops that show that real people live in the town. There is a good selection of restaurants to serve the many tourists, but we did not feel like we were in an overly tourist-oriented spot. All in all, Le Petit Moulin provided us with an excellent base for eating, drinking, sleeping, and exploring the area. We intend returning!

The food was amazing here. We stopped by for lunch and ended up waiting out the rain. The staff was patient and helpful. Chose this if you get a chance. The starter with escargot with cream and leeks and foie was amazing!

9 of us, not booked. We chose the menu du jour because it sounded perfect; poached eggs and fennel mousse, veal and bulgur wheat and ended with home made profiteroles. Service was very welcoming and professional, food choice was exciting and the cooking was excellent. Highly recommended. 10/10
